April 2026: Are You there Human? It’s me, Moo-garet!
What’s the latest moos on the farm?
This month, we want to take a moment to shine a light on something incredibly meaningful happening behind the scenes…
Meet Mayflower’s Herd of Hearts
What began as a simple intention—to help Mayflower feel safe, loved, and supported as she heals—has blossomed into something truly beautiful.
Mayflower’s Herd of Hearts is a volunteer-led effort rooted in compassion, connection, and showing up—for each other and for something bigger than ourselves.
And y’all… it’s working.
To Our Volunteers…
We are so incredibly grateful for you.
You are not just “helping out.”
You are part of the heartbeat of this place. You are shaping what Lochan Zanda is becoming— a space rooted in community, kindness, and connection.
And we could not do this without you.

Fun Fact: April Fools… but make it Scottish
In Scotland, April Fools’ Day is actually called “Huntigowk Day” (aka Hunting the Gowk ).
A “gowk” means cuckoo bird—which was basically their way of saying… “you’ve been made a fool!”
Traditionally, people would send someone on a ridiculous errand with a sealed note…
and when the poor soul delivered it, the note would say:
“Dinna laugh, dinna smile. Hunt the gowk another mile!”
Meaning…
they’d get sent somewhere else… and somewhere else… and somewhere else…
Farm Translation:
If a donkey hands you a note today… don’t trust it.
