Frequently Asked Questions

What should I bring for my visit with the Highland cattle?

We recommend dressing for the weather and farm terrain. Bring sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), a reusable water bottle, and a light snack if you’d like. Closed-toe shoes or boots are a must for walking safely around the pasture.

How should I interact with the Highland Coos?

Gently and respectfully. Our coos are friendly and curious, but they’re still large animals. Use calm voices, slow movements, and follow the guide’s cues when brushing, feeding treats, or petting them.

Are the Highland cattle safe to be around?

Yes! Our coos are well-socialized, peaceful, and used to visitors. However, like any animals, they can be sensitive to sudden noises or movements. We ask all guests—especially children—to stay close to their group and listen carefully to our safety guidelines.

What makes Highland cattle special?

Highland cattle are a heritage Scottish breed known for their long, shaggy coats and iconic horns. They’re hardy, gentle, and intelligent animals with strong social bonds—and each coo has its own unique personality!

Can I feed or take photos with the coos?

Absolutely! Our farm visits include opportunities to brush, hand-feed approved treats, and take photos with the coos. We just ask that you respect their space and follow instructions to keep both you and the animals safe and happy.
